Upload files that ground your assistant’s answers.
Documents are files you upload for a specific agent—PDFs, text exports, and similar. They are a primary source of truth for long-form or policy-heavy content.
Upload practices
- Prefer clear structure: headings, short sections, and consistent terminology.
- Avoid scanned images without OCR when possible; searchable text retrieves better.
- Replace outdated files instead of stacking conflicting versions with the same topic.
How documents interact with answers
The assistant retrieves relevant passages when answering. If nothing matches, it should fall back according to your AI Model instructions (for example admit uncertainty rather than inventing detail).
Processing and errors
Large files or unusual formats may take time to process. If processing fails, check the error shown in the UI, fix the file, and re-upload.
